    Default d20e cylinder heads?

    when my e7te heads took a shit i had some d20e heads laying around. im wondering if they need replaced when i do my new engine. replaced meaning with an aftermarket aluminum cylinder head. the specs on them are 58.2cc chambers 1.94 intake valves and 1.62 exhaust. upgraded springs and ported exhaust with cleaned up intake. some people have told me that these will support 400hp. i call bs on that but wanted some input. i cant post in tech for some reason anymore so this is what i got.

    They have smaller chambers. 58.2cc vs 64cc for the E7's. Same valves and port dimensions. Not worth swapping unless the E7's are trashed beyond repair. How did you manage to do that?

    the e7 heads had been beat to hell bent valves and whatnot when i bought the car. i put the d20es on the car as soon as i got it just to get it running. they have bigger valves and i ported the exhaust to match the gasket and removed the thermester bump. the e7s could be repaired but these are like gt40s from what i was told. i have about 5-6k miles on them and they seem good but i dont know if they would be anything close to an aftermarket head.

    See you aren't giving us worth while info. Do you even have a engine capable of 400hp? What does trashed mean. Specs on engine?

    They will be nothing like an aftermarket head but your budget will only get you junk. We have had this talk. Unless the letters AFR are involved you are wasting money.

    i dont have an engine capable of that yet but that what im working on putting together. the e7s had bent valves and bad guides worn out springs. i had the other heads in the attic. the next engine will be a 5.0 based engine. im thinking about doing the 331 stroker kit and use a tfs1 cam. i have a preformer rpm2 intake manifold already on the car. comp cams 1.6 rockers. anything else needed?

    no i just have these. i was reading about patriot heads but could find them. i have preformer rpms on the 68 but those stay on there.

    Lets just get this out there now. What exactly are your goals? To me it feels like you are "building" something just to build something. If thats the case cool. But if you are trying to build something worth a damn we need details on goals and can lead you in the right direction.

    His goals are very low and dont require anything over what a set of edlebrock performer rpm 2 heads wouldn't handle. He doesn't want any cam larger than a trick flow stage 1

    If you don't have a good set of heads you don't have anything, save your money and buy some AFR renegage heads and not the older afr heads. you can have a 10,000.00 shortblock and the best of the best in other parts, but if you don't have a good set heads your pissing in the wind.
